Website, catalog and database access restored, linking to e-journals to follow tomorrow

Dear library visitors,

Thanks to the assistance of our colleagues at University of Redlands ITS, Innovative and Springshare, our new website and catalog are now live! Access to the databases appears to be restored as well. Linking to journal articles will be available tomorrow morning after another one of our vendors, (Serials Solutions) refreshes its settings.

In the meantime, you should now be able to search for books and course reserves in the library catalog and log in to databases to look for articles. Databases that include full text as part of the database (such as Business Source Complete) should be ready to use now. However, databases that ask you to link to full text in another place won't be available until tomorrow morning.

On behalf of my colleagues at Armacost Library I apologize for any inconvenience this has caused you. I hope that you will be able to get your work done more efficiently once all elements of our new web site are running. I encourage you to report your experiences by replying to this post or filling out our short feedback form here.

Best regards,

Update on systems outages

Dear library users,

I am writing to provide an update on this morning's systems outages. Our library website http://library.redlands.edu is now live, and the catalog has a new home at http://books.redlands.edu.

We are still working to restore database access and staff access to our integrated library system, and fixing some links to images on the site. There may be sporadic issues connecting to our systems from off campus for the next few hours, as the new addresses "propagate" throughout the Internet. Remember that you can contact us by phone at (909) 748-8022, email at reference@redlands.edu, or via chat if you need immediate help.

Best regards,

Temporary catalog and database outages

Dear library users,

I am writing to let you know that our catalog and online databases are down temporarily this morning, related to the launch of our new website. We are working with our systems vendors and campus IT support to minimize the disruption, but it will likely take some time for the new settings to take effect. I'll update this blog with more information as soon as I know more.

Best regards,

What beautiful treasures lurk in the corners of our campus? There are many, to be sure. And Armacost Library has just made a few of these more visible. Come to Armacost Library and see some beautiful Kachina dolls, part of a generous gift from Vernon (’21) and Helen (’22) Farquhar.

The Farquhar collection of Hopi and Zuni Kachina dolls are housed in the 3rd floor displays in Armacost Library. Refreshing the Library Website

We're excited to announce that June 25, the Armacost Library will launch a newly redesigned website, furthering our mission to support the teaching, research and learning goals of the University community.

The Library's Web Team, with the assistance of Information Technology Services and Marketing & Strategic Planning, have been working to provide a better online experience for the University community. We hope these changes make the website easier and more enjoyable to use.

To prepare for upcoming changes, you may need to update your Library bookmarks. On June 25, the following changes will occur.
  • The library website will move to http://library.redlands.edu
  • Library Research Guides will move to http://library.redlands.edu/guides
  • The library catalog will move to http://books.redlands.edu

As part of our commitment to inspire self-directed inquiry and the exchange of ideas, the Armacost Library will continue to reevaluate, redesign, and test the usability of our website. We invite you to share your experience with us, and actively participate in the website's development. To learn more contact Paige Mann at 909-748-8088.
